Historically, each June FANS assisted with a youth fishing derby at Washington Park. With the help of the Colorado Division of Wildlife and Denver Parks and Recreation, youth ages 6-15 were treated to a wonderful fishing experience. Educational sessions were provided and each child received a free fishing pole.
In recent years the city has embarked on a Denver’s Fishing is Fun! Program.
Denver’s Park Rangers provide fun, family-oriented opportunities to learn about fishing, meet new people, and enjoy Denver’s parks. Each event is education-based and provides information about fish and fishing ethics, skills, safety, water ecosystems and environmental stewardship.
We will do our best to keep the public in the loop on fishing events in Washington Park.
